Many tips for positional play, such as:

1. Avoid Bad bishop positions. Bad bishop is one that is blocked by own pawns with limited mobility.

2. Isolated and double isolated pawns are very good targets.

3.Rooks should strive to control open files.

4. Do not trade your good bishop to opponents bad knight. Keep your good bishops as long as possible

5. Similarly, never trade a good knight for a bad bishop.

6. Trade your bad pieces for opponent's good pieces.

7. Be careful moving pawns forward. They cannot move backwards. You create weaknesses as those pawns cannot guard certain squares.

8.Look to place Rooks in 2nd rank and 7th Rank.

9.Open files must be controlled by Rooks.

10. Be aware that that one pawn has the capacity to stop two pawns of the opponent.

11.Backward pawn must be blocked and attacked. A pawn is backward if the pawns in adjacent files have already moved forward. Meaning it has to be protected by pieces.

12.Protected passed pawns are extremely good especially in end games. A passed pawn is one that does not have opponent's pawn to stop it.

13. You can trade off a fianchettoed bishop with a battery of queen and bishop.

14.Knight on a good outpost is worth a Rook. Go for such a trade off. A square is a good outpost if it has no pawns to attack it. Usually the square in front of a backward pawn is good outpost.

15.Blockade the opponent's pawn thus hindering development.

16.Minority attack - a and b pawns March forward to create backward pawns and good outposts for you

Many more ideas you would love to teach.
